MS112: Audience Etiquette

Have you had beer spilled on you at a concert? How about a camera blocking your view? Been shoved around a venue because someone just has to get to the front? In this episode, Scotty discusses the do’s and don’ts of how to behave at live performances. Audience etiquette. It’s a real thing.

I’ve been enjoying people watching at bar gigs lately. I’ve been performing in this setting a lot recently and it’s amusing to watch people and see how they interact with the band. I decided to do this quick episode to explore some general audience etiquette guidelines across several genres of music.

I remember learning (the hard way) about not applauding between movements of a multi-movement classical composition. And I’ve certainly been the victim of someone sploshing their drink on me during a show. Then there’s the tip jar hostage holder!

I hope you enjoy this episode. If you have comments or suggestions, please reach out to me. And please join my mailing list.

Cheers!
